The working cowboy themes of Chris Owen are a representation of authentic, operating ranch activities. Once known for painting predominantly with gouache, he now paints with oils as well. Mr. Owen majored in art at Montana State Universiy, and was later the recipient of a scholarship to the acclaimed Art Center College of Design in Los Angeles, where he studied for two years.
He shows at the Coors Western Art Exhibit in Denver, Colorado and was their official poster artist in 2003. He also shows at the Cheyenne Frontier Days, Governor's Invitational Art Show where he has won the "Museum Purchase" and "Limited Edition Print Artist" awards. His painting "A Cowboy's Morning" won the international "Benny Award" for the finest Giclee in 2006. He is recognized as a contemporary western artist, whose art bears the hopes, dreams and passions, not only for himself, but for all who desire to experience the spiriti of the American West.
