Creative Outlet by family artist Rollie Brandt.
"After a hot summer day on the farm, things start to cool down and slow down as Dad finishes up in the barn with the last few chores; while the children have some fun before bed. For farm families, rural electricity made life easier, and gave them the ability to 'plug in' to countless creative ways to benefit their work and play!"
The "creative outlet" of the tile refers to the overloaded outlet under the spindle legged Atwater Kent radio which feeds not only the radio but the fan, the floor lamp, and Junior's electric train. The image may not show it online but the barn shows some light from inside, making it possible to do more chores after dark. The local co-op wired this farm in April of 1945. This is a hot midwestern evening in August of the same year.
Junior and Sis have grown up now and each has a home on the old family farm. Yes, their kids are on the internet after their chores are done. Time flys.
Perfect gift for someone retiring from your electric co-op, in recognition of all that electricity brought to the American Farm.
Print released 1997.
