"'Autumn Dream Day' was commissioned by an avid trout fisherman who asked that I incorporate numerous elements which he had enjoyed from other trout scenes I had painted. He was less concerned with my imparting any meaningful narrative sense to the painting. As a result, it tends to suggest more questions than answers, and this I find perversely appealing."
