In Enchanted April, Hillier wanted to capture, with paint, the feel of balmy tropical breezes. To convey the impression of light and warmth, he painted the richly colored flowering branches filtering the dappled sunlight. The elegant white breeding plumes of the great egret, swaying in the wind, serve to create a sense of movement.
